Josh Bell belted two home runs for the Diamondbacks against the Guardians on Wednesday. Dating back to 1990, its the 15th time a former member of the team had a multi-home run game against Cleveland.
David Fry tied the All-Star Game up 3-3 with an RBI single in the third inning off Logan Webb. It was Cleveland’s first tying or go-ahead RBI in the All-Star game in over 20 years.
Everyone on the list made the All-Star team except Knickerbocker, who was left off in favor of Hall of Famer Joe Cronin, the only shortstop selected to the game that year. Cronin was batting .283 with a .354 OBP.
Over the past two games, Josh Naylor and Jose Ramirez each hit their 20th home run of the season.
It’s the first time anyone for Cleveland reached 20 home runs before the All-Star Game since 2018 and the seventh time in franchise history multiple players reached 20 homers before the break:
In 11 games since returning from the IL, Steven Kwan is batting .535. Not only is it an impressive performance immediately following an IL stint, its the the third highest batting average in a single-season 11-game span for Cleveland since 1994.
