Scoring Twice on Wild Pitches

The Guardians scored twice on wild pitches in Wednesday’s win over the Rangers, off pitches from MacKenzie Gore and Winston Santos.

It’s just the eighth time since 2000 they’ve scored on wild pitches twice in the same game:

Grand Slam Provides Only Offense

In Wednesday’s loss to the Brewers, ‘s grand slam provided the only offense in the 9-4 loss.

That’s the first time a grand slam was Cleveland’s only offense since…. Daniel Schneemann’s last grand slam in April!

1-0 Win on Manzardo’s HR

The Guardians topped the Phillies 1-0 on Friday night thanks to a 9th-inning pinch-hit home run by .

It was the Guardians first go-ahead pinch-hit homer in the 9th inning or later since had two walk-off pitch-hit homers in 2013.

It was also just the second pinch-hit home run to break a 0-0 tie in franchise history. Incredibly, the first one happened just two years ago when broke a 0-0 tie against Boston in the 7th inning with a pinch-hit homer.

This is also the 45th time in franchise history Cleveland won a 1-0 game with a home run providing the only offense. The most recent occurrences before tonight:

On Sunday against the A’s, collected three hits and a home run while filling in for as the leadoff hitter. He’s the third different leadoff hitter to collect three hits including a homer this year, joining Kwan (twice) and .

It’s the 10th season in team history in which three or more different leadoff hitters have accomplished the feat. The others:

On Wednesday, hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the 8th inning of the Guardians 7-4 win over the Dodgers, the team’s first go-ahead home run in the 8th inning or later against the defending champs since 2019.
