First-Half Hits by Rookies

Something to keep an eye on over the next month is ‘s hit total, as he has a chance to climb the leaderboard of most first-half hits by Cleveland rookies.

Here’s the list so far entering the 2026 season:

If you search on baseball-reference it will turn up ‘s 1950 season as his rookie year (with 86 first-half hits). But he was on the roster for the entirety of May and June in 1949, making him ineligible (the fact that he received MVP votes but no rookie of the year votes is also evidence he was not considered a rookie at the time).

5 Players with a HR at Home

The Guardians hit six home runs in Sunday’s win over the Reds by five different players.

It was just the sixth time since moving into Jacobs Field in 1994 that the team had five different players homer in the same game:

At age 33, Ramirez is easily the oldest of the group. The previous team record for most stolen bases through 47 games by a player age 33 or older was just 8 by in 2018.

Ramirez is also just the 15th player in MLB history to reach 20 stolen bases in 47 games or fewer. The most recent to do so:

  • 2001 Mark McLemore
  • 1997
  • 1993 Rickey Henderson
