Angel Martinez Thru 4 Career Games

After going 1-2 with three walks against the Giants last night, has reached base nine times through his first four career games. Only three players in franchise history have reached base more times through four games in franchise history.

The others:

Angel Martinez multi-hit games

Angel Martinez collected two hits today against the White Sox. He’s played in just three games and already has two career multi-hit games.

He’s just the 23rd player in team history with multiple multi-hit games within his first three games. Only Riggs Stevenson in 1921 accomplished the feat in all three games.

The most recent to join the list prior to Martinez:

A few other notables on the list: (1941), (1939) and (1929).

Nolan Jones 12 RBI

With a three-run homer against the Red Sox, Nolan Jones became the seventh player in franchise history with 12 RBI thru 15 career games:

Ken Keltner, 17
Albert Belle, 15
Carlos Santana, 14
Roy Weatherly, 13
Jones, 12
Walt Bond, 12
Frank Scheibeck, 12

Nolan Jones Thru 2 Games

Nolan Jones joins Roy Weatherly (1936) as the only players in franchise history with at least two hits, including an extra-base hit and an RBI in each of their first two career games.

Weatherly became a fixture in the Indians lineups, often as their leadoff hitter though the late 1930s and early 40s. He was traded to the Yankees prior to the 1943 season, and helped them win the World Series that year.
