It’s just the second time in franchise history two players topped 30 homers but no one else had more than 15. In 1934, Earl Averill and Hal Trosky topped 30 while Odell Hale finished third with only 14.
There have been two others times two players hit 30 homers while no one else hit 20:
Josh Bell belted two home runs for the Diamondbacks against the Guardians on Wednesday. Dating back to 1990, its the 15th time a former member of the team had a multi-home run game against Cleveland.
David Fry tied the All-Star Game up 3-3 with an RBI single in the third inning off Logan Webb. It was Cleveland’s first tying or go-ahead RBI in the All-Star game in over 20 years.
Over the past two games, Josh Naylor and Jose Ramirez each hit their 20th home run of the season.
It’s the first time anyone for Cleveland reached 20 home runs before the All-Star Game since 2018 and the seventh time in franchise history multiple players reached 20 homers before the break:
Jose Ramirez drove in 33 RBI in the month of May, tied for the 14th most in a month in team history. Hal Trosky holds the record with 45, set in July 1936.
Here’s the list just from the Jacobs Field Era (since 1994):
Josh Naylor belted two home runs and drove in six against the Pirates on Tuesday.
It was his second career multi-homer game with at least six RBI, making him the 12th player in franchise history to accomplish the feat at least twice.
