Giving up HRs and not striking anyone out

Logan Allen gave up 22 home runs in his 20 starts this year, but only struck out 79 batters. It’s relatively rare for a starter to have fewer than four times as many strikeouts as homers allowed.

Over the last 20 seasons, here are the others to fall below that threshold with at least 20 starts.

Everyone gets a decision

Last night against the Blue Jays, all six pitchers used by the Guardians recorded either a win, hold or save.

It’s just the eighth time in franchise history the team used at least six pitchers and everyone recorded a decision.

Three Straight Rookies

Over the past three games, , and have combined to allow just one run in 19 innings of work.

Their one run allowed is the fewest combined runs allowed by rookie starting pitchers in three consecutive games in franchise history, breaking a record set by Bibee, Allen and earlier this year.

On a more depressing note, it was just the third time in franchise history the team won just one game in a three-game span in which its starting pitchers allowed one or fewer runs. The other instances:

Gavin Williams 12 K

Gavin Williams’s 12 strikeouts against the Blue Jays was the most by a Cleveland rookie since in 1964.

With it being Williams’s ninth career outing, he’s also the 11th fastest in franchise history to his first career double-digit strikeout performance.
