Joey Cantillo’s Strikeouts

Although Joey Cantillo made nine starts a season ago, he maintained his rookie status in 2025 and posted some impressive numbers.

Cantillo became just the third rookie in franchise history (minimum 10 starts) to post a K-per-9 rate above 10.

Gavin Williams 10 K Again

Gavin Williams struck out 10 Rays in his 10th career start on Saturday.

It was his second straight double-digit strikeout performance. He’s the 36th pitcher in MLB history with multiple 10-K games within his first 10 career games.

He’s also the 8th rookie in franchise history with multiple 10-K games, joining:

Gavin Williams’s 12 strikeouts against the Blue Jays was the most by a Cleveland rookie since Luis Tiant in 1964.

With it being Williams’s ninth career outing, he’s also the 11th fastest in franchise history to his first career double-digit strikeout performance.

Jose Ramirez belted two home runs on Sunday afternoon as Cleveland shutout the White Sox behind Aaron Civale and the bullpen.

Dating back to 2000, it was the 16th time a Cleveland hitter had a multi-homer game in a shutout, and the fifth time it has involved Ramirez.

Triston McKenzie struck out 10 Twins in his return to the mound on Sunday, the 25th time in franchise history a pitcher has recorded 10 or more strikeouts in his season debut.

It’s the second time McKenzie has joined the list, as he also struck out 10 in his MLB debut in 2020.

Logan Allen has 33 strikeouts through his first six career games, while Tanner Bibee has 34. The era in which which we’re in is a big factor here, but those are the sixth and seventh most strikeouts through six games in franchise history.
