Tanner Bibee Gives up 5 HR

The Nationals helped tie a franchise record on Monday night, belting five home runs off Cleveland’s starter.

Bibee joins (2022 vs CHW), (1969 at BOS) and (1962 vs MIN) as the only players in franchise history to allow five home runs in a single game.

Bibee is the first player in franchise history to allow five home runs within the first three innings of the game.

It was also the second time Bibee has allowed four homers in a game.

Bibee is one of just 11 pitchers in franchise history with multiple 4-HR outings, joining:

Holds Through 50 Games

In the Guardians 50th game of the season on Tuesday night, picked up his 17 save of the season, tying him with JoJo Romero of the 2017 Cardinals for the second most in MLB history.

The record is 18, set by the Pirates’ Mark Melancon in 2013.

The previous franchise record was 13 by (2013), (2017) and (2025).

One-Hitter with a Home Run

The Guardians nearly ended their 44-year no-hitter drought as came within two outs of a no-hitter before Juan Soto ended the bid with a home run.

Instead, it’s the seventh time in team history Cleveland has pitched a one-hitter with that one hit being a homer.

Lowrie’s homer off Hagadone also came with one out in the 9th.

6 Pitchers in a Shutout

Six Guardians pitchers combined for a shutout of the Rockies on Wednesday: , , , , and .

It was the seventh time in franchise history at least six pitchers combined on a shutout and the fifth time in a nine-inning game.

Here’s the list of the others, which includes the MLB-record nine pitchers used in a 10-inning shutout against the Tigers in 2016 which was matched for the first time on Wednesday by the Royals.

Seven Runs in Cleveland Debut

In his first start of the year, gave up seven runs in 4 2/3 innings on Monday night against the Padres.

Cantillo Gives Up HR to First Batter

Joey Cantillo surrendered a home run to the first batter he faced in his MLB debut on Sunday afternoon (Kyle Schwarber). It’s the sixth time in franchise history a pitcher gave up a home run to the first batter he faced.

Robertson’s home run off McCabe was previously the only time it happened to a starting pitcher.

Cantillo later gave up another home run to Schwarber in the third inning. He’s the second player in franchise history to give up two home runs to the same batter in his debut. He joins teammate , who gave up two homers to the Astros’ Trey Mancini in his debut in 2022.

Everyone gets a decision

On Thursday against the Tigers, all six pitchers used by the Guardians recorded either a win, hold or save.

It’s just the ninth time in franchise history the team used at least six pitchers and everyone recorded a decision.
