It wasn’t his fault, but the Guardians lost for the eighth straight time with Tanner Bibee on the mound on Saturday.
It’s the longest longest losing streak behind a starting pitcher since they lost 10 straight behind Carlos Carrasco from 2011 to 2013 (he missed the 2012 season due to injury).
Bibee and Carrasco are the only eight-game losing streaks of the Jacobs Field era.
Prior to Carrasco, you have to go back to August and September of 1991 when the Tribe lost eight straight behind Eric King and Dave Otto in streaks that almost perfectly overlapped.
There have only been 31 losing streaks of at least eight games behind a starting pitcher, the longest coming behind Rod Nichols between 1989 and 1991 (he was injured for most of the 1990 season).
