In Saturday’s win over Atlanta, Austin Hedges went 1-3 with a walk. He’s collected a hit in each of his five games this year.
Since 2000, Hedges’ is the fourth Cleveland catcher to open the season with a hit streak of at least five games, joining:
- 2006 Victor Martinez, 15 games
- 2002 Josh Bard, 9 games
- 2000 Sandy Alomar Jr., 7 games
Bard’s streak was the first nine games of his career.
