More HBP than Hits Allowed

Cleveland pitchers hit three batters while allowing just two hits in a win over the Twins.

It was just the third time in franchise history the team hit more batters than hits allowed. The others:

Shane Bieber is Done

Since ‘s season is done after just two starts, he will become the 12th pitcher in MLB history with at least 12 innings pitched and zero runs allowed in a season.

Our own recently set the record for this stat, tossing 20 shutout innings during the 2017 season.

Josh Naylor: 0-3, 3 RBI

Josh Naylor went 0-3 with three RBI against the Mariners. He’s the first player to generate three RBI without a hit since the Dodgers’ James Loney in 2009.

The only other Cleveland hitter with a three-RBI game without a hit was during his rookie year in 1964.

Bieber’s incredible start

Shane Bieber is the ninth pitcher in MLB history with 20 strikeouts and zero runs allowed through two starts and the only pitcher to accomplish the feat twice.

Mariners rookie Emerson Hancock got the win last night against Cleveland despite hitting more batters (two) than strikeouts recorded (one).

He’s the first starter to defeat Cleveland with more HBP than strikeouts since Boston’s Clay Buchholz in 2012.

Carlos Carrasco Returns

Carlos Carrasco returned to Cleveland after three seasons with the Mets, making his debut as the starter against Oakland on Sunday.

Carrasco is the first starting pitcher to leave the team, play for someone else, and then return since and both returned during the 2003 season.

Bere had been with the team in 2000, coming over from Milwaukee in the / trade. Anderson was with the team in 1996 and 1997 before Arizona selected him in the expansion draft.

Walk-Off Walk

Scott Barlow took the loss, but it was who walked in the winning run on Sunday against the Athletics. Barlow allowed all three batters he faced in the bottom of the 9th to reach, loading the bases. Morgan then walked pinch-hitter Abraham Toro.

It was the first walk-off walk allowed by Cleveland since 1998.
