In Saturday’s game against the Reds, Jose Ramirez stole his 19th and 20th bases of the season in just his 47 game.
It’s the eighth fewest games to 20 steals in team history and only three other individuals have done it faster.
Here’s the list:
- 1990 Alex Cole, 24 games
- 1996 Kenny Lofton, 30 games
- 1992 Lofton, 37 games
- 1980 Miguel Dilone, 38 games
- 1981 Dilone, 38 games
- 1994 Lofton, 39 games
- 1993 Lofton, 41 games
At age 33, Ramirez is easily the oldest of the group. The previous team record for most stolen bases through 47 games by a player age 33 or older was just 8 by Rajai Davis in 2018.
Ramirez is also just the 15th player in MLB history to reach 20 stolen bases in 47 games or fewer. The most recent to do so:
- 2008 Ichiro Suzuki
- 2001 Mark McLemore
- 1997 Otis Nixon
- 1993 Rickey Henderson
