  • Drafted out of high school in the sixth round of 2006 MLB draft.
  • September call-up in 2006.
  • Hit a grand slam on the first pitch of his career, off Rangers rookie Edinson Volquez. At the time, he was the third player in history with a grand slam in his first at-bat.
  • Also homered in his second game, at the time becoming the third player in franchise history with home runs in each of his first two career games.
  • Following 2006 season, was traded to San Diego for 2B Josh Barfield. The team was in need of a second baseman after trading Ronnie Belliard during the 2006 season, and had Casey Blake available to play third base.

DeLauter’s 5 HR Through 7 Games

In the home opener, did it again, blasting his fifth homer in his just seventh game.

He’s the fourth player in history with at least five homers through seven career regular season games, joining:

  • Trevor Story, 7
  • Rece Hinds, 5
  • Mark Quinn, 5

also had five home runs through the first seven games in which he had a plate appearance with the 2007 Yankees. However, in his third career game he was a defensive replacement and did not come to the plate, so technically it took him eight games to reach five home runs.

The previous franchise record was four, by in 1988.

and were the only others with three.

DeLauter is also just the sixth player franchise history with five homers through the team’s first eight games, joining:

DeLauter HR Streak Reaches Three Games

We had to wait until the 10th inning this time, but did it again.

DeLauter, who had homered in the first inning in each of his first two games, hit his fourth home run in three games in the 10th inning off Seattle closer Andrés Muñoz.

He is just the second player in MLB history with four homers through three career games, joining Colorado’s Trevor Story (2016).

Story, DeLauter and Seattle’s Kyle Lewis (2019) are the only players to homer in each of their first three career games.

If DeLauter homers again, he’ll tie Story for the MLB record with a four-game home run streak to begin a career.

DeLauter is also tied with Jorge Soler (2014 Cubs) for the MLB record in total bases through four games with 17.

To add to the impressive nature of the streak, three of DeLauter’s homers have come against Logan Gilbert, George Kirby and Muñoz — none of whom are easy to take deep.

Muñoz only gave up two homers in 2025.

DeLauter’s four homers through three games also doubles the franchise record of two, previously shared by:

Jhonkensy Noel Homers in First At-Bat

Jhonkensy Noel homered of Baltimore’s Grayson Rodriguez in his first career at-bat on Wednesday.

He’s just the fourth player in franchise history to homer in his first career at-bat, joining:

Kouzmanoff’s home run was famously a grand slam on the first pitch of his career.

Noel also wore No. 43 in his debut, a common number in team history but rarely by hitters. Noel is just the third position player to wear No. 43, joining in 1959 and in 1991. Jh
