In Monday’s loss to the White Sox, Gabriel Arias become the fifth player in franchise history to come to plate five times and strike out every time. No one has done it six times.
The others:
- 2021 Daniel Johnson
- 1977 Rick Manning
- 1948 – Larry Doby
- 1094 – Bill Bernhard
Each of the last three instances occurred on the road against the White Sox.
Arias also set a franchise record by a position player for the most games striking out in every plate appearance (min. three PA). Only Hall of Fame pitcher Addie Joss has more.
Here’s that leaderboard:
- Addie Joss, 9 (pitcher)
- Gabriel Arias, 6
- Otto Hess, 5 (p)
- Earl Moore, 5 (p)
- Bob Feller, 5 (p)
- Pedro Ramos, 5 (p)
- Cory Snyder, 5
- Russell Branyan, 5
- Austin Hedges, 5
- Franmil Reyes, 5
