Walking in Two Runs

In Wednesday’s loss to the Twins, took over in the 7th inning after Armstrong had walked two batters. Sabrowski then walked three straight, bringing in two runs to tie the game.

It was the first time a Cleveland pitcher had walked in two runs since 2019 and the first time it happened with consecutive batters since 2011.

ERA through 66 Games

Injuries have limited to just 66 games through his first three seasons, as he currently sits on the IL.

But through those first 66 games, Sabrowski has been one of the best relievers in baseball, posting a 1.43 ERA.

That’s the second lowest ERA through 66 games over the last 100 years:

  • 2024-26 Erik Sabrowski, CLE –  1.43
  • 2002-03 Brendan Donnelly, ANA –  1.47
  • 2014-15 Ken Giles, PHI – 1.50

This leaderboard likely holds throughout all of major league history, due to the heavy use of starting pitchers in the early years of baseball and the rarity of them posting ERAs under 2.00 for an extended period of time. But I can’t say for certain without doing some manual research on earned runs for early 1900s pitchers.

In the Guardians 50th game of the season on Tuesday night, picked up his 17 save of the season, tying him with JoJo Romero of the 2017 Cardinals for the second most in MLB history.

The record is 18, set by the Pirates’ Mark Melancon in 2013.

The previous franchise record was 13 by (2013), (2017) and (2025).

Sub-2.00 ERA for Sabrowski

Although injuries delayed his season debut until late June, became the 42nd player in franchise history with at least 30 appearances to post an ERA under 2.00.

Sabrowski finished the year with a 1.84 ERA in 33 games.

He’s also the 10th rookie on the list.

6 Pitchers in a Shutout

Six Guardians pitchers combined for a shutout of the Rockies on Wednesday: , , , , and .

It was the seventh time in franchise history at least six pitchers combined on a shutout and the fifth time in a nine-inning game.

Here’s the list of the others, which includes the MLB-record nine pitchers used in a 10-inning shutout against the Tigers in 2016 which was matched for the first time on Wednesday by the Royals.
