Sub-2.00 ERA for Sabrowski

Although injuries delayed his season debut until late June, became the 42nd player in franchise history with at least 30 appearances to post an ERA under 2.00.

Sabrowski finished the year with a 1.84 ERA in 33 games.

He’s also the 10th rookie on the list.

There have been 64 instances of player hitting 30 or more home runs in team history, including ‘s 30 this year.

Only 15 of those seasons produced fewer than 100 RBI and Ramirez’s 85 RBI are the fifth fewer in a 30-homer season in team history.

DeLauter’s first hit

In his second career game, collected his first career hit in Game 3 of the AL Wild Card round against Detroit.

He joins (in Game 6 of the 1997 World Series) as the only players in franchise history to collect their first career hit in the postseason.

Fewest career hits before first postseason hit:

DeLauter is also the 18th rookie in franchise history with a postseason hit, 10 of which have occurred since the 2022 season.

George Valera’s first postseason home run

In the first inning of Game 2 of the ALWC, gave the Guardians a 1-0 with his first career postseason home run.

Valera, who made his major league debut in September, had just two career home runs prior to his first playoff homer.

That ties pitcher (who homered in the 1920 World Series) for the team record for fewest homers before hitting a home run in the playoffs.

The next fewest belong to (three), (five) and (five).

Brayan Rocchio’s ALWC Home Run

In the 8th inning of Game 2 of the ALWC, gave the Guardians a 2-1 lead with a solo home run.

It was the sixth go-ahead home run in the 8th inning or later in the postseason in franchise history, joining:

Chase DeLauter’s Debut

Guardians prospect became the sixth player in MLB history to make his debut during the postseason in Game 2 of the AL Wild Card round and just the second to do so in the starting line.

Three of the others made their debut in 2020, including Alex Kirilloff of the Twins who made his debut as a starter, so those clearly deserve a significant asterisk.

So DeLauter is just the third to do so under normal circumstances, joining:

  • Adelberto Mondesi, 2015 Royals
  • Mark Kiger, 2006 A’s

In a critical series against the Royals, and tossed 8 scoreless innings in consecutive games on Monday and Tuesday night.

Over the last 40 seasons, it’s just the fourth time starters have tossed at least 8 scoreless innings in consecutive games.

The others:

Lee and Carmona’s gems occurred during a double-header against the Blue Jays.

Parker Messick’s Historic Start

In his second career start, tossed seven scoreless innings against the Rays, lowering his ERA to 0.66.

He’s the seventh player in team history to throw at least 12 innings thru his first two outings with an ERA under 1.00.
